I'm 42 today.
I feel good about things even though the last couple of years have been difficult.
At 42, I'd like to share some of the things I learned.
Hard work, earnest intent and simple living is far more rewarding than fifteen minutes of fame.
I've come to appreciate the journey. The destination is nice, but its such a small part of the big picture.
Expectations end in sadness and frustration more often than you'd think. Moving through life with wisdom, strength and dignity takes you where you want to go.
I've tried to be a good friend and I am blessed with so many incredible friends. I love you all.
I'll add more later. It's mah birthday and I'm being lazy right now... |

(NOTE: For folks not of OZ origin, Kiwis are people who inhabit the suburb of Australia called New Zealand.
No Kiwis were harmed in the writing of this joke...) -------------------------------------------------------- Two Kiwis are sitting down for a break in their soon-to-be new store...
As yet; the store isn't ready...only a few shelves are set up. One says to the other, 'I bet any minute now some tourist is going to walk by, put his face to the window and ask what we're selling.' No sooner are the words out of his mouth when, sure enough, a curious bloke walks to the window, has a peek, and in a Aussie accent asks, 'What're yer sellin' here?' One of the men replies, 'We're selling assholes here mate.' Without missing a beat, the Aussie says, 'Geez, you must have had a bloody good day, you've only got two left!' |

| | sad | ] | I heard from Laura for the first time since she moved out. It was Friday and she needed a picture of Linus.
He's missing and she needed one to give to the shelters. Linus ran out the front door while one of her holiday visitors wasn't paying attention.
After a trying day from all sorts of other crap that normally happens on Mondays, I had a chance to go out and try to find Linus. I searched everywhere I could within 1/4 mile radius. I search the woods, the creek, the highway, went through people's back yards and everywhere else I could go.
I looked until daylight was gone. I figured he was probably within 100 feet of the house hiding in some spot that humans can't get to.
Laura put out food and blankets and things to let him know it was ok to come back but he didn't.
Yesterday afternoon, a kind neighbor brought his body back. They found him and he'd been hit by a car and killed.
The poor guy was just afraid and alone. He didn't know who the strange person was and he wasn't used to his new house.
He was scared and just wanted to come home and all I can think of is that in the last minutes of his life, he was afraid, and alone and far away from everything he loved.
And now he's dead.
Rest in peace little buddy.
